Made mockups and developed the pattern for the pockets. After some deliberation, I decided I didn't have fabric suitable for the pouch and worked on the beret instead.

When I went to buy the fabric, the only velvet suited for this purpose was black, so I bought that. I had really wanted some colour, but you have to work with what you can get. I went crazy with the lining — gold silk shot with black; very shiny and very bright.

I'd forgotten to buy the thread, another shopping trip was in order.

Finally gathered the courage to cut the velvet, too chicken to cut the silk.

Cut the silk as I was lining the pockets to eliminate fraying as much as possible. I lined the pockets first, then made the eylets, then fingerlooped the strings. After that I made reinforced eylets in the pouch body and sewed the pockets to the body.

Before lining the body I threaded the strings to the pockets. After lining I made eylets in the body and threaded the strings. Then I made 8 buttons by covering wooden beads with thread. The buttons are very clever — they are used to pull the strings to open the bag or the pockets. No more fishing for the string in the folds!
